This is an annual photography event by the National Museum of Singapore, the theme for Spot n Shoot 2009 was ‘Our Landscape’.

The competition provided a unique opportunity to see how different photographers see Singapore and its cherished sites and spaces.

It was also the perfect opportunity – and time – for me to pick up my camera and get excited about my new home. After a year of adjusting to life in Singapore, keeping busy with renovating and decorating our new home – with little time for photography – the competition allowed me to really look at the places here that were important to me and shoot them from my perspective.

My series of photos, entitled “Singapore, My First Year!”, won the 3rd prize in the Open Category.

These were the judges comments:

“Interesting storyline created by employing an abstract point of view. A daring, abstract way of capturing the landscape with the sky as a canvas for the different graphic elements. Different ideas and different thoughts have been formulated.”
